Soresto – Rockin' around the Christmas tree

Rockin' around the Christmas tree

Your Christmas tree is the pièce de résistance of your holiday decorating. If you have an artificial tree, make sure it's not made with flammable material. However, if you get a live tree, you're going to have to take a few more precautions to make sure it's as safe as possible. This way, you can be sure those jingle bells don't turn into a three-alarm fire.

  • Look for a tree that's freshly cut, with needles that don't easily come off. We recommend sawing the trunk again with a bevel cut once you get it home, because live trees have time to dry out while they're sitting and waiting to be sold. The new fresh cut will help it absorb humidity.
  • Put your tree in water before you start decorating it, and replenish the water every day. Not every 2 days. Not once a week. Every day. Your Christmas tree needs its water like your Aunt Linda needs her wine.
  • Put the tree up in a cool and empty place, and most importantly, make sure it's at least 4 feet away from any source of heat.
  • After the holidays, while you're waiting to put the tree on the curb for pick-up, don't store it in your basement or garage. Keep it outside, where it doesn't pose a risk.

Happy holidays!
